I'm gonna start this post out with a thankful Thursday b/c Justus' swim coach actually said, "Good job" to him when he left the pool (of course I didn't ask how he did.....not setting myself up for that one ). I got in the pool with him and he actually swam a few strokes.....Hooray...progress...ahhhhh.....
Here is the big thing that I'm thankful for....It's called, "Character Quest" It is a camp for finishing 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.....It is all day from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm for 4th and 5th graders and the 6th graders go away to camp.....This is Natalie's first year to go to camp....Character Quest is high octane, serious about your walk with God, team building, fun times, face your fears, meet new friends, worship and dance till your worn out, ropes course, flying squirrell, big swing, zipline, bonding, scripture diving......a CRAZY about God good time. I have been looking forward to my kids going since they were little.....Spencer has been gone to camp this week, so I have had Natalie to tell me all about it each day.....
I have to share a little about it....As I pick her up, she is so excited to share about her day. Her eyes light up and I see this joy in her that I haven't seen in a long time. It is so refreshing. She can give me the play by play of everything from the food they had for snack to the way she decorated her mattah (staff that Moses used to lead the Israelites) One of the main themes that they are learning is transformation.....A couple of days ago she came home and quizzed me (I missed the questions...doh). I am so thankful how the word of God has been impressed deeply in her heart.
Pastor Allen has been talking about the Holy Spirit. You can go here to listen to last weeks sermon.....He was challenging all of us to be totally open to any giftings of the Holy Spirit...to welcome His presence into our lives...and to lead lives that would not grieve him.....That is the desire of my heart..that I would be sensitive to his touch and aware of where he is leading me...
Well, in preparation for this week, I have been praying that Spencer and Natalie would encounter the Holy Spirit in a mighty way and that they would "feel" Him...that their hearts would be open, receptive, and sensitive....Yesterday, Natalie came home all excited and she was talking about praise and worship showing me all the moves to the songs of course....In the van, she said...You know mom, I'm serious about praising God. I could really "feel" Him today.....My eyes welled up with tears b/c I so want that for my kids....Don't we all? I want them to feel His presence and remember that being close to him is the best place to be. I know He has more in store for her and Spencer and for us all for that matter. I explained to her how God can use us as a vessel if we are open, but we have to be purposeful b/c it's so easy to rush into the day on our merry way. As the words were flowing out of my mouth, I was reminding myself as much as teaching her....I am so thankful that God reveals Himself to use in such tangible ways and that He will allow us to "feel" Him....
So full of gratitude today. There's nothing like a church camp teaching the Bible and the kids following Christ walking it out day to day....I remember the rush of youth camp as a teenager and think of the serious spiritual "high" when we would come back.....and I think to myself...wow! She's only 10....So excited to see her grow in her walk with Jesus....
Thankful for all the people who are sewing into her life and all the others at Character Quest this week. It truly is about seeking God's best...Can't wait to hear about Spencer's week. :)
With Much Love,
