May Numbers & USCIS & Next Chapter

Wow! A lot has happened since my last post. We got new numbers today, we had our USCIS fingerprints done last week, and the Nashville area had what the weather people are calling the "1,000 year flood". Thankfully, the sun was shining today and it's almost Friday!! Hooray! Hooray!

So...for our new numbers:

For a GIRL:

For a BOY:

For SIBLINGS:

Not a whole lotta movement for us this month b/c I think we were "real time" at the end of April and this months numbers don't account for the new referrals that have gone out. So, we're hoping for a bigger jump in June. We're happy to be resting at this point...Resting from paperwork that is....

This leads me to my next topic of USCIS...We submitted our application two months ago and hadn't received our fingerprinting appt. (This is a separate fingerprinting appt. from the one we had to do for our home study.) Our social worker said we might want to try taking the papers we had received from the USCIS down to the office in our city and see if they will fingerprint us. This sounded a little crazy to me, but I thought it was worth a shot...So, during the days after the flooding, Trevis' job was closed down, so he went down there. Somehow, he had favor on him, b/c he asked like 3 times and finally the guy told him he'd have to ask his supervisor. Trevis was very cordial and the supervisor said, "Yes". She said she's fingerprint me too if I'd get there before 3:00. So, we are glad that is done. The people were talking to me the whole time and the ladies were really nice.

Fast forward a little to this week....I have struggled in my heart with the choice of teaching until we receive our referral or go ahead and stay home. I really was excited b/c I was going to move to 3rd grade. However, I knew God was telling me I needed to come home now. This was a difficult decision, but I feel very peaceful about it. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to teach first grade for three years at one of the best schools in our area.

So, our last day of school is May 28th and that will begin the next chapter in our families lives although it may not really seem like it until school resumes in August.

A scripture that comes to mind is Phillippians 1:6--Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion....

With much love,

  1. congrats on your new numbers!!! So exciting! :)

I'm so happy for you that you get to stay home -- I left my job about 6 weeks ago in preparation for our little guy and I don't regret it for a single second! :)

  2. Best of luck to you in staying home with your family. My Mom always told me when I worked that I would never regret making the decision to stay home and she was right! I love to hear about families moving up the list.
