o.k. so last night we went to church. We are 7:00 worshippers. It was our first official weekend in our new sanctuary at World Outreach Church (We had Christmas Eve service in there, but it wasn't official yet). I walked in expecting to feel God's presence. God has ignited this new excitement in me. I am beginning to look for Him and signs of Him working all around. Now...don't get me wrong, there are days when I am falling over on the couch exhausted from being mom, wife, and teacher at 8:15 on a school night. However, I wake up refreshed and ready to dive into my new devotional "Jesus Calling". Pastor Allen's message was about preparing yourselves....He said, "You better get ready". ok.....Scripture reference: Joshua 3:5--Joshua told the people, "Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you."
We are in the process of getting ready. Our social worker said we are ready to set up our meeting for our home study. With that comes excitement. We have gathered documents, copied, visited the bank, had stuff notarized, had the cats vaccinated, sent off for all kinds of background checks, asked complete and total strangers to fill out forms for us and write statements, and asked friends and family to write reference letters. Trevis and I are both having our medical appts this week and hopefully everything will be good to go and we'll have everything we need by the time we have our first home study meeting.
I also learned that God wants us to have places to help us remember His faithfulness. I'm hoping this blog will become that for our family. Thank you for all of you who have already been supportive in our announcement of our adoption.
When we were first considering adoption, every blog I could click on and everywhere I'd turn, I'd see Proverbs 24:12. That is how our blog got it's address. It is:
Don’t excuse yourself by saying,
“Look, we didn’t know.”
For God understands all hearts, and he sees you.
He who guards your soul knows you knew.
He will repay all people as their actions deserve.
It just kind of stuck in my heart. I would think about it alot. I am trying to keep it in the forefront of my mind with each thing God makes me aware of. It's so easy to just dismiss, but I've realized now more than ever I am held accountable.
ok...so "consecrate"...I'm going to look into that word this week. I'm sure I have some areas that could use a little consecrating.
Switching gears....in hopes of raising fees to submit to our adoption agency, I will be making crocheted, fluffy flip flops (with Mom's help--thanks in advance Mom). I am thinking "spring" here--warm weather and flip flops. I have a supply of black "Old Navy" flip flops in sizes 7, 8, and 9. You can have any color thread crocheted on. Each pair of flip flops will also come with a matching hair scrunchy. As soon as Old Navy gets their flip flops in, the possibilities will be endless. They are adorable on little girls as well. I have a sample picture you can look at on the left side of the blog. You can also order via paypal. Just send me an email @ proverbs24twelve@gmail.com and let me know what color thread you'd like. They can be school colors, team colors, or just your favorite colors. The sky's the limit. Just think--fabulous footwear and helping us flip flop to adopt all at once!
Have a great week! I wanted to include a picture of the kids last weekend when we got some snow.
With Much Love,
Melanie
