Miracles and Favor

Good Morning everyone! I have been extremely excited to type this blog....So.. on Sunday I posted that Pastor Allen said to get ready for "amazing". I must admit I'm not sure I have experienced God like this in a long time. It is exciting! On Monday I had my medical checkup. Since my husband and I usually just go to a walk-in clinic if we are sick, I was now having to find us a family practiioner for adoption purposes and I was hopeful that I would like this person well enough to continue going to the practice. Our social worker and a friend both recommended the same practice so I felt really good about it.

I was just grading some papers and recording them in the waiting room. When I finished, I started reading "The Forgotten God" by Francis Chan (same author as "Crazy Love"). I didn't get far into it when they called my name. The nurse was very sweet. She asked me many questions and we had a great little talk. Then, the doctor came in and asked me several questions. Turns out, his wife reads Katie's blog (www.kissesfromkatie.blogspot.com) and he and his wife know a friend of mine. Before leaving, he called his wife on the cell phone to tell her about our road to adoption. He was asking around to some ladies who worked there if they knew anyone who needed a baby bed. I don't know what happened, but without even thinking, I said, "I might need one of those by December or in the next six months." He said, "Do you want it?" I was thrilled! He called his wife and it'll be coming here soon. Only God! It was the first time I ever met this doctor. Then, at Natalie's horseback that afternoon, I was talking to a friend of mine. I had her little girl in my class last year. I was sharing all that had been happening in our lives and feeling called to adopt. I was sharing the ways God was providing and told her about the dr. story from earlier in the day. She was excited too and said, "We have a high chair and a booster seat you put at the kitchen table you can have." My heart was soaring. This is truly an incredible journey.

Trevis went yesterday (Tuesday) for his check-up. Everything went well. Then, I got home from school. I honestly was exhausted b/c it was the first full day back after a three day weekend and I have enough planned for 5 days squeezed into four. I asked Trevis if we had any mail. I am like a kid these days and can't wait to get the mail. He said I had some birthday cards. Imagine my surprise when I opened one from my brother and sister-in-law and it had the most heartfelt letter with a large check to put toward bringing our new son (and possibly sibling) home. Words can't even describe. I was taken back. I began to well up with tears and had a glimpse of how much God truly loves the orphans. So....thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank all of you for your support, words of encouragement, and any way you have given or are going to give to our family. I am truly grateful and humbled.
I love you all!
p.s. Amazing is Awesome!

  1. Welcome to the wonderful world of adoption. We are with the same agency and preparing to bring home our boys next month. Found you through Amy who we met at one of the fellowship groups for the african group in the area.

When we were starting our journey, we had a similar experience with the mailbox moment. It was the first time for me to be reminded for me to trust God. He is faithful and will provide.

    Blessings-

  3. I came over from Amy's blog and I just loved reading what God has been doing for your family! I am at the point where I feel Him leading me too, although I don't think my husband is quite there yet. I could really relate to your story, because just the other day my husband began to have a change of heart. So, we will be praying and seeing if that's God's will for us. I have also read Crazy Love and Forgotten God and they are such great books! I was adopted at 13 mos, so I know how much of a blessing adoption is for a child. I will look forward to following along on your journey!

  7. Congrats! We are adopting from AGCI (India) and I popped over from Amy's blog. Love reading your God stories! God's love for the orphan is amazing and HE moves the mountains. It is an incredible journey. We have 12 and 9 year old boys and were done having kids in our plan:-) Then, God led us on a mission trip where ours eyes were open to the world and our hearts were opened to adoption. Love the letter your husband wrote and how the Lord did that to you guys too.
    Blessings,
