5 Months Home!

I woke up this morning thinking, "Wow, it's been 5 months since we came home with Justus!" I can't believe it...some days it seems like yesterday and other days it seems like he's been in our family forever (except for the fact that I REALLY miss sleeping in in the summer. )

Some things Justus is doing/enjoying now:
  • taking swim lessons
  • bringing his own Bible to church
  • identifying 17 letters of the alphabet and numbers 0-10
  • riding his bike
  • saying his own prayers at the table for mealtimes and randomly in the van
  • experienced a "Movie in the Park", the splash pad, a $2 special summer movie complete with popcorn, going to his class at the Y
  • gramma put him to bed for the 1st time while we were out on a date...woo hooo!!!
  • playing the board game "Sorry".
  • pushing the grocery buggy at Kroger
  • dressing himself
  • buckling his own seatbelt
  • saying "Hi" to neighbors and friends
  • talking on the phone
  • waking up by 5:30 AM
  • antagonizing his brother and sister (oops...Did I type that?)
  • playing cars
  • picking flowers for his mommy

We are definately a family of five...people ask how the kids are doing...well I guess they're like normal kids...they either:
a. love each other
OR
b. not so much

Summertime has brought on a whole new dynamic b/c when we first brought Justus home, it was just him and me at home all day and the big kids were at school (and Trevis at work). Spencer and Natalie had different bouts of times where their worth needed to be valued and extra time and attention was needed. Now, with the big kids out of school everyday, I am seeing Justus be jealous of having to "share" me. I guess this is good and healthy. It's strange how fast the tables have turned. I'm still learning and  I blow it every now and then....It's hard to maintain peace with all  three all the time.

Last week, Justus and I met our waitress friend (from Waffle House...mmmm) with her kiddos at the splash park at a nearby town...Totally free and the entertainment...Well, let's just say....something that the ole eyes should not have to behold haha...At least Justus was oblivious and totally enjoyed the water.

I was just thinking.....Justus was at "Hannah's Hope"--our agency's transition home (kind of like an orphanage) for five months and now he's been home for five months....yeah! Wow! Time does really fly.
Justus, you are a bundle of love, life, and energy. We love you lots!

With Much Love,
