Warning: This post is random and will seem all over the place....
What an eventful weekend we had. Trevis' cousin got married on Saturday night. He saw family that we haven't seen in several years. It was a beautiful wedding and fancy smancy reception. I was glad I wore a skirt--haha! My kids and husband were cracking me up at their expressions when I was getting ready. Obviously, it's been a long time since I wore a dress or skirt. (sidenote: On Saturday nights at church, the dress is not formal--love that!!) Here's a couple of pics from the wedding.
Sunday morning, we went to church and "The Katina's" led praise and worship. Sunday night, they had a "Family Faith Night" concert. It was fantastic. We heard them many years ago at a Music and Worship conference, and man....it was good to worship with them again.:)
In the middle of Sunday, I got a call from a young man with "Ordinary Hero". He was coming to get our couch in the bonus room. Yes, it's official. We have moved things around to get ready for having a new little one and we're having to retire the couch. We're turning the bonus room into a bedroom minus the closet. The couch is oh so comfy (not great on the eyes, but so comfy...You could fall asleep in 2.5 seconds on that thing, I'm telling ya.) I am so happy that it is going to another flood victim. The young guy was so nice and had some diapers that another girl from "OH" couldn't fit in her baggage for her missions trip to Ethiopia...He left them for me to take to the crisis pregnancy support center here in Murfreesboro. I was just reading an article at the orthodontist this past week of items they were needing...perfect timing. God is so good. It's amaing how He'll just work right through you when you are open to his spirit. And really, we all have so much to give. I LOVE the joy that giving brings. God, please help me be sensitive to your spirit.
Ok...So Spencer had a flag football game tonight. They lost BUT he scored his first touchdown. He received a pass. Go Spencer!! Now, that was exciting...
I got home and Natalie walks in with a gift bag singing "Happy Birthday". I was like, "What?"..(My birthday is in January.) So, I opened it up and found this plaque inside with a sweet card from my neighbors.
What encouragement for my evening!! I really needed that. You see....it's approx. 7 weeks into summer break and while we've had a great summer, my two kiddos lost that loving feeling for one another today. They have played together, fought, bickered, laughed, argued, shared, been greedy, been thankful, complained etc. all in 12 hours. What's up with that? Can we have some fruits of the spirit consistantly people?!? I'm just trying to clean, do laundry, load the dishwasher, make breakfast, check emails, return calls, map the floor...All I'm asking is that we could be kind to one another. So, a trip to the grocery tomorrow oughta help with that, don't you think? hahaha! Their electronics have been limited. For each task they complete (typing, devotional, math "summer bridges" pages), then they can choose an electronic (including TV) for 30 minutes. Each one of them set the pace. It's working out pretty well, but they do think that no other mom on the entire planet "makes" their kids do these types of things. What an ogre!! In the meanwhile, they're refreshing math skills, learning proper finger placement for typing, and spending time reading God's word. Hopefully at some point in their lives, they'll see these things as beneficial....
I'm looking back at my scripture reading for today...One of the verses was Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Here's hoping for a peaceful day for us all tomorrow.:)
With much love,
Loved the update and all the great things that are happening during your summer. Can't wait for you to have your little one home in the room you are preparing :)
