Hey everyone! Well, it seems like it's feast or famine for me on blogging. The kids are on fall break this week. We have had some bonding time, let me tell ya. ;) We've been to cross country practice each morning, the dentist for me, the orthodontist for Spencer (jaw corrector in the near future), and both kids' dentist appointments today. Alrighty....That should take care of our mouths for awhile...Now, if the kids would just stop using there's for a few minutes and I had some peace....now that would be something. Oh did I just type that? insert :)
On the adoption front, we had our call with our caseworker last Thursday. She went over a lot of factual information as far as what goes down between us accepting our referral and actually bringing "D" home. Our first step is getting a court date. There are two initial court dates. The first one is for the person who relinquished "D", which in our case is the birth mother. The second is for us. Usually both appts are scheduled a couple of weeks apart...She said it can take up to six weeks to hear of a court date. Will you please join us in praying that we would hear some good news this week? I know there's only two more days left but we are excited about getting the call. It has been 2 1/2 weeks since we accepted the referral to give you specifics on the timeline. So, we should hear dates sometime in the next 3 1/2 weeks. She said the total process should take between 3-5 months. We are praying for 3 months b/c that would be right around Christmas....5 months would be past Valentine's Day.....Can you imagine Christmas with a new 4 year old? Oh....so magical....I love it!
Speaking of "D", I have been busy painting his room. Well, I actually couldn't decide on a color, so I started painting my bathroom. I found a pretty cheapo shower curtain at Kohls for 80% off. We took the shower curtain to Lowes and they color matched the blue in the curtain. It took 2 coats.....After I finished I took a couple of days off and then started painting "D's" room on Monday night. Yesterday, I painted the baseboards. He is living in Spencer's old room and boy has Spencer done some living in there....Now, we've got to repair a piece of molding from under the window....When Lilly was a puppy, she thought that would be fun to chew one night while Spencer was sleeping. We went with a golden brown color (It is called fortune cookie at Home Depot). I talked to the paint lady at Home Depot about getting the premium paint (Behr--paint and primer in one) I asked her if it was really worth it b/c "D"'s room has like 15 feet ceilings on three sides and I definately didn't want to paint twice. She said she couldn't guarantee it, but told me that's what she would buy....OK....I'm a fan people.....I have tried just about every type of paint and for whatever reason it has a hard time adhering to the wall or will peel off when I take the tape off ....plus I usually have to use 2 coats....We had a winner!! This paint was the BOMB!! 1 coat...no peeling...fabulous!! And it only took 1 gallon to paint the whole room. I can't believe it. Well, I have a lot of decorating to do in there. When I get it finished, I will take some pictures and show the final reveal. I can't decide if I want to go all out and paint special things on the wall.....I painted a whole Star Wars scene in Spencer's room when he was about 6 using an overhead projector (It took about a month...every free minute I had). He later got scared to sleep at night, so I had to paint over it with plain ole ice blue....Natalie's room has color blocks, so I feel like I've gotta go all out at least once for "D". What do you guys think? He is going to have a sports theme b/c his referral said he likes playing ball....Hopefully, he'll have a ball in there....
Oh yea...and we got new neighbors. There is a little girl a year younger than Natalie. Yea! An answered prayer. She has been praying since her other little friend moved last year.
Have a wonderful Wednesday. 8)
