Yard Sale Success!
Our yard sale was this weekend....June 11th and 12th. Thank you so much to everyone who donated items to our sale....A big shout out to Amy and Elizabeth. You girls rock! Their families donated by the trailer load. What a blessing! Many neighbors and friends came out. I think it had to be the hottest two days of the year. We're feeling a little "chicken fried". I'm trying to add that song to my playlist, but can't remember the password....if I get it on there, just substitute "root beer on a Friday night". That's what we say around our house.;)
Back to the yard sale....It took us about 2 hours to set up. I had drawn a planagram at Natalie's horseback lesson during the week to keep us focused on where to put things out. Our garage, dining room, and living room had all kinds of things packed in them. It was honestly overwhelming...overwhelming in a good way, but nonetheless overwhelming. We got out at 5 a.m. Friday morning and started setting up. People started rolling in a little after 5:30 I think. I wanted to take a picture, but I don't think I stopped to breathe for awhile. We stayed set up until 2. Spencer had a dr. appt. on Friday about 45 minutes away, so we needed to get showers of course.:)
On Saturday morning, we set up again bright and early. People started coming. We were bargaining left and right. We had to pack it up early on Saturday b/c Spencer had his first flag football game of the season. Neither one of us wanted to miss out.
Natalie sold lemonade, cokes, water, and Dr. Pepper. Both kids worked their tails off. I'm really proud of them.
Our grand total.....
$1,227.85
YEA GOD!!!
This gets even better.....It started thundering on Friday. A huge gray cloud was blowing over. Any of you who know me know that the only thing I was nervous about was rain. To keep me from worrying, I would just say in my head, "Thank you Lord that it is not going to rain on our yard sale." Saturday, the same thing happened again. Still, no rain. It blew right around us. After Spencer's flag football game, we came home and packed all the stuff back up. We had to abandon it for the game. No sooner had we gotten the last box in the house, the bottom fell out. It poured. God is so good. He really does care about the little things. We all praised him. It was really a family bonding time.
One last shout out to my mom. She totally rocked. She worked her little heart out for us on Thursday night and Friday. She moved, she built, she boxed, she lifted...you name it. Thank you Mom!
God has really built our faith during this adoption adventure. I am amazed that He continues to prove Himself faithful over and over even when we hesitate before obeying. Praise be to Him through whom all blessings flow!!
With much love,
